Lorem Ipsum is a book that pushes my boundaries of form when it comes to bookmaking. Using unlikely materials such as plexiglass and woven paper, I pushed to create a book that was as literally transparent as possible.

MONOTONE

YEAR:

Printed book

5.5x8x2

Digitally designed pages + printing

2022

Monotone is a 500 page book designed within the span of a month and serves as a stream of consciousness. Though beginning as a stepping stone to my capstone project for my BFA in Graphic Design, this piece stands on it’s own as a test of limitation— both in time and in material. All images included in this book were constrained to a 6-color palette requiring layering and blending modes to achieve the vibrant and bright colors.

Resonant is a 16x20 ink-based work highlighting a variety of textures and forms including feathers, silk, metal, leather, and transparent fabrics. The recurring circular forms balance with the natural textures to create a comparison of natural vs man-made.

Wood carving and relief printing

2022

This print is part of a limited edition of 5 prints with 3 APs. Based on the Appalachian urban legend of the “Not Deer”, I created a deer that looks almost recognizable as human from the neck down, but still functions as an imposter.

LONE FLAME

Drawing

25x19

Pastel on canvas

2020

Lone Flame was created with the use of a live studio model for the base of the pose, and flaring off at the junction of the hands, feed, and head. This work symbolizes the radiation of life and importance from each individual— especially important during the time of it’s creation in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

APPROPRIATION SERIES

Mixed media

2019

Through the use of mixed media and printed materials, I created this series showing how photography, art, and modern media change based on appropriation and appreciation. Symbolically, the first 2 pieces in this series— “Blue” and “Red” function as the basis for the third, “Purple”. Blue and Red focus on the appropriation of photography and art respectively, and this mix and junction of photography and art gives way to modern media appropriation.
